Written and produced by Kanika Dhillon, featuring Taapsee Pannu the gritty drama follows a mother navigating a dark syndicate in search of her missing child. Released globally on September 3, 2026, the film quickly established itself as one of the year’s top performers across international platforms.
In its first week on Netflix, Gandhari claimed the number three spot on the Global Top 10 Non-English Movies chart. The film pulled in massive 5.9 million views and 11.5 million viewing hours, based on positive audience response and love.

The opening performance of Gandhari significantly outpaced several major concurrent releases. Mainstream action title Alpha, sitting in its second week, recorded 5.2 million views and 12.2 million viewing hours. Meanwhile, the star-studded comedy entry Dhamaal 4 opened at number five on the non-English chart with 2.6 million views and 6.1 million viewing hours, meaning Gandhari more than doubled its opening week performance.

As we look at 2026, the films that topped the charts with Gandhari includes Toaster with 4.4 million views and 9.2 million hours viewed, Kartavya with 4.2 million views and 7.7 million hours viewed, Maa Behen with 4.4 million views and 9.3 million hours viewed, and Ikka with 4.4 million views and 10.3 million hours viewed.
Clocking 11.5 million hours watched in just its opening week, Gandhari is already setting a formidable standard for streaming success this year.
