  1. What made you initially choose the product category as a beginning in your career?

Satyajit Roy – I have always been naturally curious, with an insatiable desire to learn about the subtleties of human nature and how design can influence how we interact with the outside world. I was deeply moved by the idea of developing practical solutions that seamlessly fit into people’s lives. I was drawn to the field of product design because of this powerful confluence of creativity and problem-solving.

My desire to design with purpose and impact was sparked by my ability to empathize with users, put myself in their situation, and decipher the complexities of their experiences. The constantly changing environment offered countless opportunities for expansion, innovation, and pushing the limits of what was feasible. I yearned to work in a field that valued experimentation, welcomed change, and promoted lifelong learning.

  1. Did you have any role models who inspired you in your career?

Satyajit Roy – I have been fortunate to encounter inspirational role models who have made a lasting impression on my professional development in the captivating world of my UX career. My passion has been stoked and my path to greatness has been illuminated by their brilliance and visionary approach. Let me share the tales of two extraordinary people who have motivated me to push the boundaries of UX design and pursue excellence.

The most renowned co-founder of Apple Inc., Steve Jobs, comes first among these legends. His unwavering commitment to elegance and simplicity in design has influenced the very nature of my profession. Jobs had a rare talent for simplifying complexity into experiences that prioritize the needs of the user.

He tapped into the potential of seamless integration, incorporating technology into everyday life. I learned the skill of unconventional thinking from his creative mind, how to go against the grain, and how to create products that are not just useful but actually transformative.

Don Norman, a legend in the fields of design and human-computer interaction, serves as the second source of inspiration. My understanding of user-centered design has been greatly improved by Norman’s invaluable contributions, especially through his ground-breaking book “The Design of Everyday Things.” His lessons place a strong emphasis on the value of empathy, usability, and iterative improvement. I’ve learned from Norman’s work to consider design from the perspective of human psychology to make sure that every interaction has a strong emotional connection with the target audience.

  1. Please explain your current role and how your journey has been by far.

Satyajit Roy – There have been difficulties along the way that required constant adaptability and resilience to manage the delicate balance between aesthetics and usability, synthesize vast amounts of data into meaningful insights, and work with a variety of stakeholders. I have, however, embraced these difficulties as opportunities for development that have helped me push the limits of my creativity and increase my knowledge.

The satisfaction of witnessing users interact with and gain from the experiences I assist to develop fuels my current position. It serves as an ongoing reminder of the transformative power of design and the influence it can have on both people and organizations.

Besides, my approach to UX has been shaped by the combined influence of these role models, who inspired me to embrace empathy, push the boundaries of creativity, and iterate constantly in order to produce exceptional user experiences. They have cultivated in me an unwavering dedication to excellence and encouraged me to create designs that expertly meld aesthetics, usability, and a thorough comprehension of users’ needs.

  1. Can you tell me about a time you had to persuade someone in authority to follow your suggestion?

Satyajit Roy – I still remember when I came across a fascinating situation where I had to convince an authority figure to accept my suggestion. I set out on a mission to introduce a transformative approach to project management in a thriving tech company where I created a compelling narrative that connected with the goals of the executive leadership while maintaining a firm belief in my idea.

I drew a clear picture of success using persuading language, engrossing anecdotes, and imaginative predictions. Together with the anticipated concerns I managed to skillfully respond to them, giving decision-makers a sense of security. This way I promoted a collaborative environment through mesmerizing visuals and sincere conversations. Eventually, my efforts were successful, and the decision-makers accepted my suggestion’s potential for transformation.

  1. How important is teamwork in the growth of any business?

Satyajit Roy –  I believe that teamwork is crucial to the expansion of any business. It not just encourages harmony but also makes use of various viewpoints, increases effectiveness, fosters effective communication, and cultivates a culture of ongoing learning. In today’s dynamic and competitive environment, businesses can realize their full potential, overcome obstacles, and experience sustainable growth by embracing teamwork.

  1. What challenges have you experienced in the past related to product-related goals?

Satyajit Roy – Ambiguous requirements, resource limitations, cross-functional collaboration, stakeholder management, market competition, customer demands, and success measurement have all presented difficulties for me. As a matter of fact, it takes a combination of strategic thinking, effective communication, adaptability, and a data-driven approach to successfully address these challenges and this triggered me to create a resilient and assured approach to managing product-related goals by accepting these difficulties as opportunities for learning and growth.
