When emotions between lovers begin to bleed, then even the universe shall drown in it. This is the premise of Krispy Rishtey which is narrated by the hero in the film and beautifully blends the still prevalent family values of current royals of Rajasthan with that of the modern-minded thinking of the youth.

Written and directed by Jagat Singh (Jay Gangajal and Lipstick Under My Burkha), the film is a love quadrangle, that is a premise very less explored in Bollywood films. Its plus point is that it has over a dozen songs and the notable among them are performed by Shreya Ghoshal, Papon, Jubin Nautiyal, Richa Sharma, Nakash Aziz, Sabri Brothers, Mohit Chauhan, and by late KK.

Karan (played by Jagat Singh) is an obedient son in a traditionally rich Rajasthani family and is often referred to as Kunwar sa. During college itself, he is in love with Natasha (played by the gorgeous Manmeet Kaur) and that is a secret kept to his heart.

Obediently following the tradition, Karan gets married to a homely and cultured girl Anjali (Diljott), but it is after the marriage that Karan finds it unbearable to put on a false romantic emotion towards his homely wife. Natasha comes back into his life and much to Anjali’s awareness, they carry on their romantic outings.

Much to the relief of Anjali, a sweet boy Vinod resurfaces in her life and then begins the complexities of continuing with the societal bonds or breaking away towards fulfilling one’s inner desires.

The story picks up after a while and travels through the picturesque and lush green locales of Rajasthan which is a pure pleasure to the eyes with such beautiful roads and scenery around the state.

Jagat Singh takes the show with his performance and is equally matched by Manmeet Kaur and Diljott convincingly portraying the contrasting sides of females.

What is heartening is the breezy portrayal of their relationships which come as a whiff of fresh air in the other cliched films churned out in Bollywood.

Finally, one can say that original, pure, and family-oriented love stories are no longer the domain of the few established production houses. Qudos to Jagat Singh and the producer Sagar Shrivastwa for coming up with such a wonderful, fresh, and ‘Krispy’ love story.

Krispy Rishtey is now streaming on Jio Cinema.
