In today’s time, most people, whether they are from urban areas or rural areas, are doing online shopping. Usually, when we buy or sell something from an online platform, we consider it as e-commerce. But e-commerce is much bigger than that and it is just one type of e-commerce.

What Is E-Commerce?

When we buy or sell goods online through the internet, it is called E-commerce. On any e-commerce platform, the merchant puts all the details of his product. Today e-commerce is on its boom in India because today everyone is doing online shopping due to having mobile and cheap data plans.

In this case, know the different types of e-commerce with examples –

Business to Business (B2B)

The raw material is required in any business. When one business sells goods to another business using e-commerce, it is called Business to Business (B2B) e-commerce.

In this type of e-commerce, one company offers its goods or services to another company. In this, companies either use their personal websites or use their social media platforms.

Business to Consumer (B2C)

This type of e-commerce is most prevalent today and it is generally considered as e-commerce. Whenever a company sells its products or services to consumers online, it is called Business to Consumer (B2C) e-commerce.

Nowadays, people are using e-commerce platforms like Amazon, and Flipkart because of having mobile and internet with every person. Companies put the details of their products on these platforms. Seeing that detail, people buy goods, this is called Business to Consumer (B2C) e-commerce.

Consumer to Consumer (C2C)

In e-commerce, businesses usually sell goods to other businesses or businesses to their consumers. When consumers transact goods or services among themselves through online platforms, it is called consumer-to-consumer e-commerce.

Some of the major e-commerce websites for this are OLX, eBay, etc. Both buying and selling on these platforms are common people and not any business.

Consumer to Business (C2B)

This type of e-commerce is the opposite of business to consumer. In this, consumers sell their products or services to companies.

For example, if a person is a graphic designer or content writer, then you sell your services to companies through freelancing.

Business to Administration (B2A)

Government organizations depend on companies in many forms, such as making websites for government organizations, getting an app ready, etc. In such a situation, these organizations take out tenders and on the basis of these tenders, companies bid. The company which has the highest bid is responsible for doing the related work, this entire process is called Business to Administration e-commerce.

Consumer to Administration (C2A)

When the general public connects with government organizations using the Internet, it is called consumer-to-administration e-commerce. In today’s time, in order to bring transparency in government institutions and to facilitate the general public, many activities of government institutions like filing income tax returns, electricity bills, paying telephone bills, and many other activities have gone online.

These are all major types of e-commerce. All the activities of e-commerce that are happening today, they all come under one of these.
