21-Feb-24: At just 20 years old, Yuven Sundaramoorthy, a racing prodigy with Indian heritage, is gearing up to conquer the INDY NXT by Firestone Series, a milestone 3rd edition of this esteemed open-wheel motorsport event. This championship serves as the primary support series for the INDYCAR series, now in its second year under the INDY NXT banner following its acquisition by Penske Entertainment in 2022. For this exciting full season, Yuven has teamed up with the esteemed ABEL Motorsports.
During the 2023 USF Pro Championships season, Sundaramoorthy showcased his skills in the USF Pro 2000 program before making the leap to INDY NXT with ABEL Motorsports to close out the year. He participated in four races across three events in Nashville, Portland, and WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, securing two impressive top-10 finishes. The synergy between Yuven and the ABEL Motorsports team was palpable from the start when they teamed up at the Music City Grand Prix in Nashville, making it a sensible decision to continue their partnership into the next season.
Speaking of his excitement for the 2024 INDY NXT season, YuvenSundaramoorthy, who is also a Computer Science Major from University of Wisconsin, expressed, “I’m thrilled to have inked a deal with ABEL Motorsports for the upcoming INDY NXT season. The last couple of races in 2023 with them were amazing, and I have complete confidence in our team’s ability to achieve impressive results next season. I owe a big thank you to my family, sponsors, and partners for making this journey possible.”
In 2021, Sundaramoorthy clinched four wins and secured five more podium finishes, culminating in a commendable third-place standing in the USF 2000 title race. He stands as the sole Indian-American driver to triumph within the INDYCAR ladder system, having secured victories in the USF2000 championship at revered tracks such as the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Barber Motorsports Park.
