  • State Museum and Orchha Fort to Offer Immersive 3D Journeys into Heritage Sites

The Department of Archaeology, Archives, and Museums, Madhya Pradesh, is introducing a new way for visitors to experience the state’s cultural and historical heritage. With the launch of an innovative Virtual Reality (VR) Expedition, visitors can now embark on immersive and interactive 3D journeys at two iconic locations: the State Museum in Bhopal and the historic Orchha Fort.

In the first phase of the initiative, state-of-the-art VR booths featuring 10 headsets each will be installed at the two sites. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore Madhya Pradesh’s historical and cultural landmarks through specially curated films. These films will highlight key stories and sites, allowing visitors to explore the state’s heritage through an innovative medium.

The VR setup will include a user-friendly interface, enabling visitors to select content tailored to their interests. To ensure ongoing engagement, the department plans to update the VR content annually with new films, offering fresh experiences to repeat visitors.

Discounted tickets will be offered to school and college groups, making this cutting-edge technology accessible to young learners. Designed to be inclusive, the VR experience will cater to individuals of all ages and backgrounds.

The first phase of the VR project is scheduled to launch in late March 2025, with public access beginning in April 2025. Based on feedback, the Department of Archaeology, Archives, and Museums aims to expand the initiative by increasing the number of headsets, introducing multilingual support, adding more locations and exploring collaborations to further enhance the VR experience.
